Labelled as the "new standard mirrorless zoom", Sigma released the 28-70mm F2.8 DG GN Contemporary mirrorless lens at the end of February.
This new zoom lens combines "outstanding optical performance, an F2.8 constant aperture, and a lightweight and compact body."
With a weight of 470g, this contemporary lens is almost half the weight of the 24-70mm Art lens, which it is based on.
"A good way of visualising how big this new lens is that it's almost exactly the same size as a can of coke," Tim Berry told viewers at The Photography Show on March 6.
Tim, who is media and marketing manager of Sigma Imaging UK joined Ed Spencer in introducing the new Sigma lens at the virtual festival.
"I'd never made that comparison before but you are absolutely correct," Ed said as he held up a can of coke next to the lens for the viewers to see.
The lens is also the smallest and lightest standard zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras.
